Portland In Top Ten Again!

Portland scored #7 on the U.S. News top ten healthiest places to retire to, citing the mountain forests, rugged coast, and islands of Casco Bay as part of the allure. Artists have been flocking to Maine, and Portland, for the same inspiration for many years. Hooray for Portland!

Sacred & Profane, Peak’s Island

One of the most exciting art happenings of the fall season was last weekend on Peak’s Island at the WWII bunker, Battery Steele. Surrounded by woods, with a view of the ocean, this event was packed thanks to the beautiful sunny weather. Art installations in the dark bunker were lit by candles, and included work by artists Rebecca FitzPatrick, Lucinda Bliss, Abby Shahn, and Colleen Kinsella, as well as amazing musical performances and an incredible display of acrobatics, flame-juggling (!), and tightrope walking. Let us know what you enjoyed about this extraordinary event here.
